Diversity & CSR

A diverse business
As an international Group, BNP Paribas is defined not just by our huge breadth of service lines, but also by the diversity of our people. By bringing together people from different backgrounds, we’re able to incorporate multiple viewpoints and, as a result, drive truly innovative solutions.
BNP Paribas received the Excellence in Renewable Energy Gold Award in the 5th edition of The Energy Business Awards
Diversity in action
“Diversity is crucial to BNP Paribas' success in the global marketplace. As a global organisation, we are committed to maintaining a culture that enables us to attract, develop and retain the best talent.
Our strategy is to integrate diversity within our business through both local and global initiatives including talent management, networking and specific diversity training and events. In both our business and our workforce, we see diversity as one of our greatest strengths.”
Gill Somerset, Global Head of Diversity
Getting greener
We are committed to reducing our impact on the natural environment and we do this by conserving energy, carefully selecting our suppliers and managing waste effectively. We’re a founding member of EcoFolio, an environmental body that promotes responsibility in the use of informational and advertising brochures and leaflets. We have our own monthly electronic sustainable development newsletter and we also finance wind farm projects not only in Europe, but also in the Americas, the Middle East and Asia. In 2006, we received the ‘Commodities Now’ magazine’s Excellence in Renewable Energy prize for our active role and ability to innovate in the renewable energy sector.
Giving something back
We’ve been promoting microfinance since 1993 and further stepped up our efforts in 2006 with a Group-wide Microfinance business. Recognised as an effective weapon in the fight against poverty, microfinance involves the provision of financial services to those who wouldn’t normally have access to them.
The BNP Paribas Foundation strives to preserve and promote cultural heritage and support artistic expression. It also provides funding for state-of-the-art medical research as well as for innovative projects in the areas of education, social solidarity and disability.
