Sales Analyst

The Sales teams at BNP Paribas are pivotal on the trading floor. They also play the vital role of establishing and maintaining strong relationships with our clients in order to win business for the bank.

Once a relationship has been formed, the Sales team will advise clients, based on information collated from our Research and Structuring teams. Our Sales experts then liaise with Traders to execute deals on behalf of the client. An in-depth understanding of each client as well as the products we can offer them is essential in order to pre-empt their needs and provide products tailored to their requirements.

There are various roles within Sales, from Origination/DCM and Structured Sales to Derivatives Marketing. All vary in terms of the technical skills you値l develop, but for all Sales roles you will need to be persuasive, convincing and good at building relationships.

What you値l do:

In Sales, your aim will always be to be the first person a client calls when there痴 a deal to be done, or to be the first person to call a client with a new product or service that will suit them.

You値l market ideas through formal events like pitches and presentations but you値l also need to be ready to network with clients and travel regularly to meet them to discuss trade ideas.

Sales roles offer you an opportunity to gain a full understanding of all of the products BNP Paribas offers. It involves helping to build a client database, assisting in the management reporting of desk activities and investigating trade settlement problems.

You will actively participate in all stages of the transaction process, from client request through to deal closure. This might include pricing requests, answering client queries and creating term sheets.

As you progress, you値l cover and nurture your own account list, delivering creative and innovative solutions to your clients in liaison with the Trading and Research teams.

If you join us in the US, you値l also have additional structuring responsibilities and so more advance programming skills and analytical skills are important.

Within your first year, you could have your own clients and by this time you will be regularly attending client meetings which often involves travel.

What you値l need:

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential along with strong numerical, and basic modelling skills.

You should have a minimum of a Bachelor痴 degree in any discipline although Maths, Accounting, Finance, Economics or Statistics are particularly relevant. Excellent spoken and written English are crucial and other languages are a definite advantage in this field as you will ideally converse with your clients in their native language.
