Our salespeople are on the front line providing a dynamic bridge between our clients and internal teams.
As well as having to know everything about our products and their clients, they play a vital role in establishing, maintaining and building strong relationships, and are involved in all stages of the sales process from client request to deal closure.
In Sales, a key part of your role will be to become a client's trusted advisor – responding to their needs and enquiries but also proactively marketing ideas through formal events like pitches and presentations, as well as more informal contacts. Your role will involve assisting in the servicing of clients (presentations, providing clients with pricing, marketing documents etc). You will also be involved in supporting the management reporting of desk activities and investigating trade settlement issues. As you progress you can expect to prospect for new clients and manage your own client relationships. Fundamental to this is your development of an in-depth knowledge of the range of products you cover – whether they are fixed income, equities, commodities or derivatives.
Naturally you need to be able to persuade and convince, but just as important will be your ability to nurture relationships so good networking skills and a willingness to travel to where your clients are important. You’ll also need to be able to build strong relationships with your colleagues in structuring and trading. Working towards a common goal with internal partners is vital in maintaining the highest standards for our clients.
