Year one
Year two

Induction
Our induction is consolidated into three streams – Capital Markets, Investment Banking and Functions, overall, the CIB development programme begins with intensive induction training lasting up to five weeks. Delivered to small groups by leading external training professionals, it will give you the technical and financial foundation you need to join your team and take up your role. You’ll also benefit from presentations by key leaders from around our business, broadening your understanding of our activities and helping you to appreciate how different parts of our business interact.
Personal development workshops and networking events
Continuing throughout the programme you will benefit from a series of personal development workshops specifically designed to emphasise core CIB attitudes and behaviours. You’ll also have the opportunity to participate in a series of cross-functional social and networking events. These will enable to you to further build your networks within the Bank and give you exposure to senior managers from around our diverse businesses.
Ongoing development
After joining your team and taking up your full-time role you will continue to access a wide range of development opportunities on the programme and will benefit from on-the-job technical coaching. We are committed to early and rapid development and you will be given as much responsibility as we feel you can handle, and the opportunity to develop as fast as your ambitions allow.
Alongside these more informal structures you will continue to benefit from specialised business-specific training delivered by our experts via internal seminars – including global seminars delivered by the CIB Academy. In addition, some business areas have their own channels for enhancing your knowledge and sharing best practice, such as Fixed Income’s Brown Bag University – a regular business briefing forum hosted by senior managers and shared globally.
Year two

The emphasis of the programme will shift towards career development in your second year, although you will continue to receive on-the-job technical coaching and support. Your access to learning events will continue throughout the programme via online training modules, the CIB Academy and through further personal development workshops. As you near the end of your second year we will work with you to develop a personal career development plan – a roadmap for the next stages of your career – and help you to develop and exploit your networks to identify further opportunities for you within the firm. We view learning as a lifelong journey and even after the end of your programme you will continue to benefit from development opportunities.
When you join the BNP Paribas development programme, you'll become part of our worldwide network. The team you are hired into will work as part of a global team and we encourage you to take advantage of any opportunities, either short or long-term, to work in any of the 53 countries where we have a presence. Not only will it help you develop your career, it will also help to connect you around the world. You'll be better linked to your peers and each of you will be able to achieve more through your greater knowledge of different markets, countries and business lines. And of course, the end result will be more creative and successful solutions for our clients.
"The best piece of advice I was given and I would give to a graduate looking at BNP Paribas is a single word, osmosis. The opportunity to learn from experienced professionals; to get close to clients and get close to transactions and get close to senior bankers - that's the best way to learn."
Paul, Corporate Finance
Talent Development Programme
Following the completion for the two-year development programme you will be eligible for the Talent Development Programme (TDP), which identifies and develops individuals whose performance has highlighted their potential to be the future leaders of CIB.
It's a competitive programme that offers significant benefits. Entry is based on a series of selection criteria that include a strong commitment to BNP Paribas' core attitudes and behaviours, high levels of performance, a demonstration of leadership and strategic vision, and the ability to work in a variety of contexts and environments with a strong multicultural dimension.
"The challenge for CIB is to create a more international mix in our teams...so we provide our managers with tools which enable them to track and develop the people in their teams. This way they can motivate their "top talent" by offering additional challenges and tasks but also ensure that they continue to encourage all employees to build their skills in our core behaviours"
Marie-Pierre Joubert - Head of Career Development, CIB.
